New model top lager than old model

Our old frame is still good so we purchased 2 original color canopys. Went to put it on and the top piece is much larger than the frame we have, then we read that there was a model change between the time we bought it (2005 or 2006) and now, so we went to the hardware store and bought four 12 inch long PVC pipes took the caps off of the frame, glued and pushed them into the frame and then taped with gorilla tape. This newer canopy fits like a charm ...
